Chill Out with Spencer Phelps was a radio show I made for WDCM 97.5 FM here in Marion. It started airing in mid-2008 and went until mid-2009. They had to take it off the air since I was running for office at the time.
This show played my favorite type of music: Chill Music! If you're unfamiliar with the genre, it's kind of like jazz but a lot more interesting. Usually there are sensual female vocalists singing over some down-tempo electronic music, or you get some fun, spacey instrumentals. It's a bit faster than the atmospheric/ambient genre. If you want a quick example, I think the song that epitomizes chill music (at least in my humblest of opinions) is In the Waiting Line by Zero 7. Stop by Groove Shark and type that bad boy in and give 'er a listen.
I did 20 shows, each with about 55 minutes of different chill music each show. I saved a copy of shows 11-20 and show #1 that I remastered at the station so that it would sound more professional. Shows 2-10 have the whir of my loud computer fan in the background. I don't have enough space on this site to host all of the shows, but I'll keep a couple up here as an example of what went down every Sunday at 9pm on WDCM.
Incidentally, the show was supposed to be called Chill Out FFS. The latter part really means "for fuck sake," but I tried to pass it off as "full-flowing sounds." They didn't buy it. Oh, and there's a cameo of my gal Heather in the remastered show 1!
